How long is your Apprenticeship?

4 years.

Do I get any credit for work I
have done in the past?

You may be eligible for credit if you have verifiable experience (check stubs) working for a Non-Union Iron Working Contractor.

Do I have to travel?

Travel may be required in Western Washington.
Will you pay for my travel costs?

In a few areas Subsistence is offered, the majority of the time it is the apprentice's responsibility.

When am I eligible for benefits?

Benefits are provided for you and all dependents after 90 days and 300 work hours.

What is the starting wage for an apprentice?

1st period apprentices start out at 65% of the journey level wage.  ($20.47 an hour) Journeyman ironworkers currently make $31.49 an hour.

If I am a certified welder do I still have to do an Apprenticeship?

Yes, Ironworkers do not have a welder classification so you will have to be Journeyman. Welding is considered a job skill and not a trade.

Where will I complete my training?

1st year will be at our Tacoma Training Site at Bates Technical College. 2nd year is split between Tukwila and Tacoma, 3rd year will at our Tukwila Training Site, and 4th year will also be at our Tukwila Training Site. Any or all classes will spend time at both Major Training Sites as Required. We also have a part time Training Site located in Mt. Vernon for 3 months a year.
