The selection process for apprenticeship includes a written application, oral interview and 20 hours of Safety and Orientation.

What is the starting wage for an apprentice?
Apprentices wages start at 65% of the Journeyman Scale.
Currently in Eastern Washington it is $20.01. In Western Montana it is $16.47.

What is the minimum age to apply
The minimum age for apprenticeship is 18 years old.

What is the minimum qualifications to apply?
A current Drivers License and a Social Security Card, and
Physically able to perform the trade are the minimum Qualifications.


Is there traveling involved?
Yes. Local #14 has a large geographical territory that includes Western Montana, Northern Idaho, and Eastern Washington.

What are the normal hours of work?
You can expect to work from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm 5 days a week. In addition, some out of town is a 4 day week 10 hour days.

Is there an application fee?
There is no application fee.

How much are union dues?
Apprentice Union dues are currently $68.69 per monthly, plus a working assessment for every hour worked.

Will I be drug tested?
Yes. We have a DRUG FREE WORK PLACE (DFWP) program that you must enter after receiving a dispatch and before reporting to work.  You can also be randomly tested up to three times a year.
